My Last West Coast Wednesday

Posted by SammyK on Jul 19, 2008 at 02:20 PM | Comments

I've been practicing a song for Maudie's wedding in August. My fingers are raw since it's been so long since I have played the guitar. These guys have been my inspiration for the song:

This past Wednesday was the last West Coast Wednesday for me. It's sad. I loved busting into some 3 hours of non-stop West Coast Swing. Paula from Grand...

Horses, Dancing and Beaches

Posted by SammyK on Jul 14, 2008 at 12:13 AM | Comments

This weekend was full of excitement. It started off on Friday night with a little movie night at the apartment with the projector that we have set up.

On Saturday I headed to Fowlerville, MI to go to a friend's farm (Kayla) and went horseback ridding. I was ridding the horse Kayla calls Grandpa. He was stubborn and didn't like having a bridle...

The Camera Made It

Posted by SammyK on Jul 05, 2007 at 12:04 PM | Comments

So I made it OK to Guatemala yesterday. I was worried that my massive carry-on Canon XL2 would be too big to carry onto the plane. The first plane I had to take from Cincinnati to Huston was an "Express Jet" with overhead compartments far too small to fit my massive camera. I took the bag to the flight attendant and said, "This is an extremely...

International Fun At The Gorge

Posted by SammyK on Sep 26, 2006 at 12:12 AM | Comments

William, Toddy, Frith, Jackie, and I went in the Jeeps to The Gorge for some mad mudding today. It was a blast. We did some mad feats in the Jeeps with climbing over rocks and driving through creeks and splashing muddy water all over the place.

I uploaded the pictures from the second half of the Guatemala trip. I will upload the first half when I get them from J-rod.

Well, David is moving out to San Jose, California to work for Price Waterhouse Coopers. I am driving out there with him in his new car to help him move in and to insure the cross-country trip stays safe....

Back From Guatemala

Posted by SammyK on Jul 25, 2006 at 05:20 PM | Comments

We're back from Guatemala! We spent our time in a town called Guazacapan digging and digging until we were so physically exhausted that we couldn't dig anymore. The church was creating a walkway from the road to the sanctuary and they were also going to build on classrooms. I had a wonderful time getting to know some of the people on the team...

As of this morning, I am officially here in Germany by myself. I am now waiting for one of my friends to pick me up and take me to a city called Wupertal. While I am waiting, I will try and make an update here with as much updateageness that I have time for. I have taken lots of new pictures on my camera, but since I am currently using such a...

What's In A Tire?

Posted by SammyK on May 06, 2006 at 03:53 PM | Comments

A huge sigh of relief rushes over my body like a cool, swiftly running creek on an early spring day as I come to a realization that all things school related have been completed. All finals, all papers, everything is done for this semester. After work yesterday, I came home can crashed on my bed and stayed there for over thirteen...

A Baptism In Sin City

Posted by SammyK on Apr 25, 2006 at 11:25 PM | Comments

Sorry for the lack of upadteageness. I have been, dare I say it... busy. It's funny. When I got back from Guatemala, I looked down on the thought of being busy. It seems like we Americans think the act of not being busy all the time is a bad thing. I really don't like being this busy. It really distracts from so many things. But on...

Computer Shooting in London

Posted by SammyK on Mar 05, 2006 at 05:31 PM | Comments

Oh my gosh – this was by far the best shooing trip I have ever been on. We had about 14 people come shooing and then 11 go mudding afterwards. It was a BLAST! The weather was better than I would have ever wanted it to be. I even got a sun-burn on my face! I have posted the pictures. Frith has got some more good ones.

We started...

CSF Spring Retreat in Gatlinburg

Posted by SammyK on Feb 12, 2006 at 08:31 PM | Comments

I am back from the CSF Gatlinburg, Tennessee Spring Retreat. I met all kinds of new people and over all had a great time. I rode down in a car with some freshmen that I didn't know, but I got to know them a lot better and they didn't act like freshmen at all – which is a good thing. :) When we got to the hotel, "Park...

Yes, Shooting Is As Fun As It Looks!

Posted by SammyK on Jan 09, 2006 at 03:03 AM | Comments

So it's 3AM and I have to be at work at 8AM. I am up this late (or, early) because I have been implementing a photo album manager for my website so that I can quickly add photos to my site through an online interface. The front-end was inspired by the FaceBook way of navigating photos which I have grown to love. So if the format looks a little...
