My New Laptop Just Bit The Dust

CONSUMER WARNING: DO NOT PURCHASE AN IBM Thinkpad Lenovo T61.

I just purchased a pimped-out laptop from IBM that has all the latest and greatest hardware. And I don't know why I didn't see this before I purchased it. Review after review on that page tells the story of someone who purchased the Lenovo T61 and immediately had problems with it - the same problems I am having. The reviews go back a year or so, so it's not like this is a new model that is having problems, but IBM is still selling this faulty machine. It freezes on me constantly. I frequently get a blue screen of death. And right now it won't even boot up. It starts to boot up but stops on a blue screen of death and then restarts only to give another blue screen. I can't even use my laptop that I just purchased.

My Lenovo T61 arrived on the 31st of May - just 18 days ago which is well within their 21 day return policy. I called IBM's support to get a return number and got sent around in a goose chase calling different departments for an hour. Then this guy tells me that I would have to pay a 15% restocking fee since it was past the 21 day return policy. WHAT!? They started the "21-day return timer" the day it left their store - IN CHINA. It spent almost a week in transit to get to my house. That's a week of it not being in my hands and discovering that it was bunk. So what they are telling me is that they want to charge me $300 just to take this non-working laptop back that they sent me as a new laptop just 2 over weeks ago.

They told me to call back tomorrow to talk to the people that handle the "post 21-day policy" returns. I will certainly be calling them alright.
