A romantic evening for two

So for those of you who don't know, Jennie and I are courting. "Courting?" you ask. "Why not just say 'dating?'" We are building our relationship towards marriage in a non-stereotypical dating relationship. One example that sets courting apart from dating is that we want our first kiss to be on the alter should we get married. With that said, we celebrated our "one year anniversary" this past Saturday.

We started off the day by coming over to my house to get a quick bite to eat at about noon. Directly afterwards we went to an antique place (since Jennie likes antiques) and then went to the florist my mom works for and Jennie crated a beautiful flower arrangement. Then we headed to "Dollar Deals" off of Nicholasville RD to see what all we could buy for under $1. After I found some things for my small group and she found a little mirror thingy, we made our way to the Lexington Humane Society to play with some of the cute little puppies.

By now, it's about 5PM and I drop her off at her house to get ready for the evening events. I went home and put on a suit. Now keep in mind, all the events during this entire day were unbeknownst to Jennie. I wanted every aspect to be a surprise, and even though she would try to guess, she had no idea what was to come. When I picked her up, she looked fabulous in her black dress. I took her out to Carraba's which is an Italian restaurant out in Hamburg.

After dinner Jennie tried to guess where we were going next, and dropped a few hints as to where she was thinking we were going. Well, she hadn't a clue. :) We made our way downtown to the Opera House to see "Dracula" where we sat in our own "box" on the side. Although we were at a weird angle, the coolness of having your own section of the theatre was so worth it.

We thought we were going there to see a PLAY of "Dracula" when in fact the curtains arouse, this man wearing EXTREMELY tight tights began flaunting around like a girl. I hung my head in sadness as I realized that we were watching a ballet. It was fun to make fun of the guy in the audience who kept yelling "Bravo!" after every scene.

After the... "interesting" ballet, we headed down the street where we waited in front of the Radisson Hotel for our next treat. Jennie had no idea what we were doing just waiting there until she saw the horse and carriage pull up. We had so much fun cruising through downtown Lexington behind a smelly horse.

After all that it was about 10:30 or so, and we headed way out of downtown to the awesome little place in the middle of nowhere D-well and I found a while ago that is absolutely PERFECT for star gazing, so we spent the next hour or two cuddled up underneath the stars just in awe of God's beautiful creation.
