The Tightrope Is a Hard Thing To Master

William does this cool thing where he stretches a rope between two trees and walks on the rope from one tree to the other. Last night he was showing off his tightrope walking skills at the empty Julius Marks Elementary parking lot. So D-well tries it (as you can see on the left there) and is quite shaky. He would usually get to the center of the rope and then fall. Then they say that I should do it. Well, I weigh much more than they do, but I thought, "Why not?"

So I try it with D-well and William as my "training wheels." I held on to their shoulders as I walked across the rope. It was a successful walk. Later on, they encourage me to do it again, only this time, without the help. So, again I fall to peer pressure and I prepare myself for the walk.

As I get on the rope, I am a little wobbly, but take my first step anyway. The step was firmly panted on the rope so I took another step, then another. I was three steps into the walk and I looked like a pro... that is until my fourth step which kind of pushed the rope the wrong way. As my body fell victim to gravity, the rope strained under the weight my right foot had on it. My foot gave way to the intense pressure the rope was withstanding and with a tremendous POP sound, the rope slapped me and I hit the ground in utter failure.

I guess tightrope walking is not for me. D-well, however made it all the way across just before we left.
